Getting Here and AwayWe are located on the main road to Paraa just ouside Kichumbanyobo Gate, the main entrance to Murchison Falls National Park. As soon as you see the gate which has two white crossover horns, look for the UCOTA signpost on your left. You can reach us using boda boda or special hire. Tell them to take you to Boomu Women's Group in Kigaragara village. We are only 35 minutes ride away from Masindi making us a convenient day trip. Click here for a map of the Murchison Falls area. Kaniyo Pabidi chimpanzee eco-tourist viewing siteWe have close links to the guides Kaniyo Pabidi. One of the guides at Kaniyo Pabidi was the founder of our group. If you wish to visit the site, please tell us when you get here. We will tell the guides to drop by and they will arrange with you when and how you want to visit the site. Facilities
We are located in well maintained enclosed grounds. The site is filled with many trees including fruit trees, shrubs and flowers. We therefore have many butterflies and birds including our own colony of weavers which contain both Black Headed Weavers and Vieillot’s black weaver. We are surrounded by fields and overlooked by a hill. This makes our site a tranquil place to relax, away from the tourist trail. We have three bandas with twin beds and one with a double bed. One banda has been left as a traditional mud banda. There is a campground and campfire. We have showers and hot water can be supplied in a jerry can on request. We provide basic meals such as filled chapattis, chips, rice and pasta dishes. Depending on the availability of fruit and milk we can at times offer pancakes, crepes and cakes. We hope to offer a more extensive menu in the future when our project farm, hen house and fish farm are established. Drinks and sodas are also available. ToursCommunity TourThis tour will take you on a scenic walk through our local village. You will see the different variety of crops that are grown and how they are processed. We will talk about the key issues that are affecting the area such as the problems resulting from an increasing population. We will show you things of local interest. Process of Cooking TourCooking takes up a large amount of subsistence farmers’ time. We will first take you to our fields where you can help dig your dinner which we will then prepare. While we are waiting for dinner to cook we shall fetch firewood and cooking water. Dinner will be served the local way with the option of a fork!
